A White Cap Mushroom Growing in My Fig Tree Pot

Today I noticed a smooth white cap mushroom growing in my fig tree pot.

After reading a couple of articles about mushrooms growing in indoor pots, it’s not really a concern. The mushrooms will make the soil more nutrient-available for the plant. The articles did suggest to be careful because some mushrooms may be toxic, which I’m aware of.

I probably got the mushroom because I put some compost material in the pot and also left the fallen fig leaves in the pot to decay. I probably watered it too much recently as well.

Anyway, maybe I should get myself a gnome, like this one from @coolgrrl on Instagram, and shared by Tina Lawlor Mottram of Garden Patch in an article titled, “Why Are Mushrooms Growing in My Plant Pot? (It’s NOT Bad).”
